After spending the day with crowns on their heads and boas around their necks, varsity field hockey seniors led their team to victory on senior night on Sept. 30. The team went up 3-1 against South Lakes High School in the first half of the game, and continued the momentum into the second half to win with a score of 6-3.
For the team however, senior night is more than just a game, it’s an entire day of activities to recognize the seniors’ contributions to the program. To begin the day, the team ate breakfast at Manhattan Bagel as a group. In the afternoon, they arrived at the game early to take pictures with teammates to commemorate their time on the team and celebrate their achievements before the senior ceremony began. Just before the game began, each senior was announced along with their college plans, field hockey experience and academic honors. After the win, each senior was given a gift basket as thanks for their dedication to the Madison field hockey program. Finally, the team bonded over cake and cookies while celebrating their win.
“Senior night was really fun, because all the underclassmen and parents did such a great job making it special,” EG Cate (’26) said.
