Former United States Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton was seen at Madison earlier this afternoon. She was attending her nephew’s Vienna youth football game.

Clinton’s brother, Tony Rodham, moved to Vienna in 2005 after marrying Megan Madden. The New York Times wrote in 2015 that Rodham and Madden had “two young children.” It is likely that it is Rodham’s son, Clinton’s nephew, that she was supporting.

News of Clinton’s appearance in the bleachers at Madison football field was quickly shared across social media, and many Madison students stopped by to take pictures:

Clinton has taken a lower profile since completing her candidacy for the 2016 presidential election, in which she became the first woman nominated by either of the two major parties when she won the Democratic Party’s nomination. Despite winning the popular vote in the general election, Clinton ultimately lost the Electoral College to current President Donald Trump.

Clinton served as the 67th Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013 under President Barack Obama, Senator from New York from 2001 to 2009 and the First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001.
