When you think of electives at Madison, what class immediately pops into your mind? There are so many options for students to choose from, from art to theater to engineering. But which classes get the majority of student interest? The Hawk Talk put together a poll to discover once and for all which electives are the most popular among the student body.
The results of the survey showed a shocking preference – out of 169 people, most students greatly preferred music-related electives. The most popular elective was orchestra, with 14.8% of the votes, followed by band and choir. These three electives made up 34.3% of the total votes, showing that a large majority of students prefer electives with music.
But why do students enjoy music classes so much? It’s because they enjoy making music!
“Choir is such a safe space to me. I can just let loose of all of my other stresses from junior year for 90 minutes a day, and sing.” Lucas Salinas-Aranibar (’27) said.
An orchestra student, Audrey Munoz (’28) shared how she enjoys her class.
“We have trips, parties, and our concerts are really fun. We get to help decide on songs to play and make pretty music!” Munoz said.
Through this survey, we have discovered how much Madison students enjoy music classes.
