The line from the small cafe winds through its narrow doors and spills onto the sidewalk outside, anxious queuers shivering in the cold as their noses catch a whiff of the glorious scent wafting through the open door. Decadent delights fill the display windows in the cramped storefront, kolasches and donuts galore. Vienna’s newest addition, Texas Donuts, has caught the eye of many townspeople with its intriguing flavors and unique food combinations. Originating in 2002, Texas Donuts planted its first location in Texas and shortly thereafter opened its next location in Oklahoma. Its newest location, right here in the town of Vienna, opened on Dec. 3 with Mayor Linda Colbert cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The unique donut chain has a lot to offer. Along with the regular staples, Texas Donuts offers a wide variety of croissant sandwiches, along with kolaches, iced coffee, croughnuts and special character donuts. However, their claim to fame originates from their Big Texas Donut, a treat that is about two to three times the size of a regular donut.
